Washington County commissioners

  • Date: May 16
  • Action: As expected, the board approved contracts for courthouse roof and dome repairs at a cost of $2.15 million with Bryn Enterprises of Export, Westmoreland County, and Allegheny Restoration Inc. of Pittsburgh.

The commissioners granted permission to Golden Triangle Construction, which is working on a PennDOT project at Routes 519 and 19, to fill designated areas of the Washington County Agricultural Fairgrounds. The company has agreed to pay $30,000 between July 1 of this year and July 1, 2020.

At the request of the redevelopment authority, which operates the Washington County Airport, the board approved an engineering work order for $84,696 with L.R. Kimball for obstruction removal under a professional services agreement already in place. Payment will come from a PennDOT Bureau of Aviation grant and a local match.

At the request of the planning commission, the county will seek bids for perimeter fencing and a barrier to separate small and large dogs at Mingo Creek park leash-free area.

At the request of the court administrator, the commissioners, the court and Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission Inc. will operate the Saturday Teen Education Program at a cost of $25,000 to be paid from Act 198 substance abuse fees with no required contribution from the county’s general fund through April 30, 2020.

The board renewed an agreement for total monthly rent of $5,548 with Joyce and Aaron Stimmel for records storage near the courthouse, to be paid from the records management fund.

At the request of Information Technology, the commissioners approved an agreement with Pictometry International Corp. for the “Digital Referenced Oblique Aerial Imagery Solution” to be used to provide public safety during emergencies at a cost of $82,845 to be paid with Act 13 funds.
