A Philadelphia mother and daughter were charged by the state Department of Corrections Tuesday with trying to bring contraband into SCI-Greene, following an investigation that started two years ago.

Jonquil S. Simon, 39, and her daughter Imani A. Simon, 22, allegedly passed 19 Suboxone strips to an inmate through photographs, while they were visiting him in 2017.

Corrections officers reported that Jonquil also had an 11-year-old daughter with her June 17, 2017, when she and Imani visited Esheem Haskins, who’s serving a life sentence for first-degree murder.

While visiting, they passed around photographs, but it wasn’t until Haskins was searched again that officers discovered the pictures didn’t “look right,” the criminal complaint said. Officers found strips of Suboxone taped to the backs of the photographs, which were also taped back-to-back, the complaint said.

Jonquil and Imani Simon were each charged with criminal conspiracy, possession of contraband and endangering the welfare of a child.
