Joe’s Bakery on North Main Street in Washington had a scare Sunday afternoon after the roof caught fire. Contractors were using heat to make repairs to the rubber roof, when it caught fire. Fire captain Nick Blumer said city crews were able to put the fire out quickly and the building had only minor smoke and water damage. Joe Vucic, the owner, said at the scene he was thankful the fire didn’t escalate and that he’ll be able to open as usual Tuesday morning.
