South Strabane police searched Monday night for two children reported to be out in the cold, unattended by any adults.

A woman called police to report the children were at the Sunoco at 195 Murtland Ave. at about 11 p.m. The caller described them as a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl.

According to police, they were wearing just short sleeved shirts and shorts, and their shoes were not on the right feet. It was about 46 degrees at the time of the call.

The caller told police she gave the children some candy and they left.

According to police, they went behind KFC and walked up the street towards the BP gas station. Police said there was an “extensive search” for the children, but they weren’t located. Police believe they may be staying at the Rodeway Inn.
