Man injured in boating collision on Mon River
A man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital early Saturday after his unlit fishing boat was struck by a tugboat on the Monongahela River near Speers.
Charleroi fire Chief Bob Whiten said the injured man was hanging off the side of his boat and taken aboard a tugboat after his vessel was struck about 1:30 a.m. about 100 yards south of a marina.
The name of the man or the extent of his injuries were unknown Monday.
Whiten said the incident was under investigation by the U.S. Coast Guard.
