Area rinks offer public ice time
Public sessions look a little different this year, but there are still some options for folks who’d like to hit the ice.
The Allegheny County Parks Department opened the North Park and South Park ice rinks for the season last week. The skating season will run through mid-March, as weather permits, according to a news release.
There will be several restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the days being limited to Friday, Saturday, Sunday and special holidays, the release said. Only 100 skaters will be permitted per session, and tickets need to be purchased in advance online, the release said.
Face masks and social distancing will also be enforced at the rinks and no concessions, birthday parties or group tickets will be sold, the release said. Scheduled skate times, tickets and pricing can be found on the Allegheny County website.
The Rink and PPG Place downtown is also open for public skating, with a limited number of tickets available to purchase in advance. Similar mask and social distancing requirements are in place.
Printscape Arena at Southpointe is still offering some public skating sessions with tickets purchased in advance and typical COVID-19 related regulations in place. The Rostraver Ice Garden is offering daytime public skating from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, as that time doesn’t typically draw a crowd.
