NORTH FRANKLIN

Mail scam: State police are investigating a scam that cost an 81-year-old North Franklin woman $35,000. According to police, the woman, received mail from an unknown source about a competition to win a vehicle. The paperwork stated she would need to send $25,000 to an unknown location in New Jersey. The woman opened a personal loan of $10,000 to help pay for the scam. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
