Exchange underwriters donates $10,000 to ALS Association
Exchange Underwriters, an independent insurance company in Washington, has donated $10,000 to the ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
The organization is dedicated to discovering treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
The $10,000 award will help provide care and specialized equipment to more than 350 ALS families across western Pennsylvania, fund local, state-wide, and national ALS advocacy, and spur innovative worldwide research for a cure.
Richard Boyer, president of Exchange Underwriters, originally received a $5,000 donation for ALS Association Western Pennsylvania thanks to a submission process with Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance through their 2022 Make More Happen Awards.
Exchange Underwriters raised an additional $5,000 by conducting a local awareness campaign for the nonprofit. By garnering at least 500 votes (shares to social media and comments) on a story featured at www.agenctgiving.com/Exchange-Underwriters the donation is doubled to $10,000 for ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
Boyer began his community involvement with The ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter in honor of his father, who died from ALS. A few years ago, Boyer chose to give the money raised at the annual Exchange Underwriters employee holiday party to the chapter, starting a partnership between the two organizations.
He participates in the annual CEO Soak, in which companies raise funds to see local business leaders get soaked in their suits in the PPG Fountain in Downtown Pittsburgh. During the last five years, the CEO Soak has raised more than $550,000 for the ALS community.
