This road closed sign on Peterman Hill in Bentleyville is an indication what faced crews from the borough's municipal authority, who worked many hours to restore service after multiple water breaks were reported Christmas night.

Crews from the Bentleyville Municipal Authority were busy due to four water breaks in the borough on a frigid Christmas night.

According to the Bentleyville Fire-Rescue Facebook page, there were breaks on Beallsville Road at the 100 Block of Oliver Avenue, Lincoln Avenue at Lackawanna and James Street at Oak Street. The borough Facebook page also reported a break on Bentley Avenue.

Members of the Bentleyville Fire Department were on scene from shortly after midnight Monday until about 4:30 a.m. to assist in shutting down Main Street, Beallsville Road and Lincoln Avenue as municipal authority crews worked to restore water service.

The majority of the water lines were replaced by 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to the borough’s Facebook page.

”The water company and the fire department were quick to respond,” read a comment on the borough’s Facebook page. “Mayor (Tim) Jansante and the borough council thanks them for their response on a brutally cold night.”
