Thursday’s accident snarled traffic and shut down the westbound lanes of Interstate 70.

One person was flown from the scene of a head-on collision Thursday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Buffalo Township.

According to a Washington County 911 supervisor, the accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. A vehicle traveling east crossed the median and struck a tractor-trailer.

The accident shut down the westbound lanes of I-70. One person was flown via medical helicopter from the scene to Pittsburgh.

Further details were not immediately available.
