It was butterflies, not baseballs, in the outfield Wednesday evening, when folks gathered to remember loved ones lost to opioid addiction. The International Awareness Overdose event, hosted by the Washington Drug and Alcohol Commission, concluded with a butterfly release.

Butterflies fluttered through Wild Things Stadium Wednesday evening during the Washington Drug and Alcohol Coalition’s annual International Overdose Awareness event. Many attendees found comfort in the butterflies gently landing on their shoulders, and reached for connection to loved ones lost due to addiction.
