2000 Turkeys nearing finish line
Less than three weeks remain until Thanksgiving, and families are preparing to gather around the table to enjoy a holiday meal together.
If you want to make a difference this Thanksgiving, you can. Simply donate to 2000 Turkeys to help Washington County families in need.
The 2000 Turkeys campaign, in partnership with the Food Helpers of Washington County, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, and the City Mission’s Boxes of Love program, is working to make sure no Washington County families go hungry on Thanksgiving Day.
Thanks to the hundreds of Washington County neighbors, businesses, organizations and churches who have embraced the spirit of giving back during the holiday season, and are ensuring Washington County families will be able to sit down for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
This week, donations large and small have poured in.
Our thanks to the Justin and Stephanie Domachowski family, who donated $20,000 to the 2000 Turkeys campaign.
“A lot of organizations ask for donations, but when you look at what percentage of those donations actually go to support a cause, they’re very minimal. But when you look at 2000 Turkeys, 100% of those donations go to support people in need within our community and I think that hits home for me, my wife and our kids,” said Justin Domachowski. “We want to be a part of giving back to this wonderful community that we’ve all grown up in. I would encourage each and every person (to donate). We can all give something, whether it’s a dollar or $10, no matter where we’re at, we can do that.”
We’re also thankful for organizations like the Washington Greene Caravan No. 2 Shriners, who stopped by WJPA on Thursday to make a $250 contribution, and to those who have made donations in memory of loved ones.
Your donations are so important. 2000 Turkeys couldn’t do it without you.
On Nov. 15, Range Resources will hold its annual 2000 Turkeys drive in downtown Canonsburg and Washington, and students from Canon-McMillan, Chartiers-Houston, and Trinity high schools, and Western Area Career and Technology Center will accompany Range employees to collect donations. Please bring cash or a check made payable to 2000 Turkeys. Let’s make sure everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
It’s not too soon to make your contribution. Please mail your donation to 2000 Turkeys, P.O. Box 2000, Washington, Pa., 15301.
