More than $61,000 raised at Walk to End Alzheimer’s
More than 200 people joined forces to raise $61,189 in this year’s Washington Walk to End Alzheimer’s held Saturday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
The Meadows was the top fundraising team, raising more than $4,900. Stacey Pape of Peters Township was the top individual fundraiser, raising more than $2,800.
According to the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s website, there were 216 participants and 39 teams in the Washington walk.
“The Washington community came together in a big way on Saturday to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research,” said Natalie Boyanovsky, development manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Pennsylvania Chapter. “We are so grateful for the community support, as well as our volunteers and sponsors, who helped make this year’s event a success.”
The goal for this year’s walk is $77,000. While the $61,189 is a bit shy of that mark, the goal is still attainable. Fundraising continues through Dec. 31 at alz.org, where donors can locate the Washington, Pa., walk and make a contribution.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Pennsylvania, there are more than 280,000 people living with the disease and 400,000 caregivers.
