The East Dunkard Water Authority’s treatment plant has begun processing water again after it was shut down earlier this week, although it’s not known when full service will return for customers.

The plant went “back online” at about 3:30 a.m. Friday and is now producing treated water, but it will take some time to fill the authority’s tanks and distribute water again, according to the East Dunkard Water Authority’s board.

The authority said turbidity issues early Sunday morning led to filter problems, forcing the entire system to eventually be shut down. Most of the 4,200 residents in the network have not had running water since Tuesday night.

It’s not clear whether all residents will having running water simultaneously or if the process will happen in steps.

East Dunkard serves customers in Dunkard and Greene townships, and parts of Cumberland, Monongahela, Perry and Whiteley townships.
