A North Franklin Township mother whose 1-year-old daughter died of fentanyl toxicity earlier this year has been charged in the child’s death.

Lindsey Rae Reho, 32, is also facing a charge of endangering the welfare of children, Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh announced Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint, emergency medical responders were called to Reho’s apartment in the 400 block of Hancock Street at about 10:20 a.m. June 10. The child is only identified in court records as “K.B.”

The baby was taken to Washington Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:26 a.m. EMS officials allegedly overheard Reho ask, “Do you think she got into something?” and she asked about Narcan, court paperwork states.

The Washington County coroner’s office provided police with a toxicology report on July 5, which determined that fentanyl caused the child’s death.

State police interviewed the child’s father a couple of weeks later, and he said he had suspicions that she had “possibly got into something” the day of her death.

Reho told police that she purchases and uses heroin daily. According to the complaint, on the day of her daughter’s death Reho threw away old drugs and paraphernalia in the kitchen garbage can before leaving the apartment “for a little while.”

Police said Reho returned, cooked breakfast, and put her daughter in her crib. The child was later found unresponsive by her father.

Reho was arraigned Tuesday morning before District Judge Kelly Stewart, who sent her to the Washington County jail without bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Oct. 4.
