Ohio man arrested following multi-state police chase
McDonald police arrested an Ohio man Friday morning following a multi-state chase that ended in Findlay Township, Allegheny County.
According to a Washington County 911 supervisor, the sheriff’s department in Jefferson County, Ohio, notified the 911 center about the pursuit at about 4:58 a.m.
Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the driver as Tyler Karhut, 27, of Toronto. According to the highway patrol, Karhut is wanted on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated burglary in Jefferson County.
Police said Karhut fled when troopers approached his parked vehicle at the north junction rest area on Route 213 in Irondale, Ohio. Karhut is accused of firing shots out of his vehicle toward police. Highway patrol said law enforcement did not return fire, and there were no injuries.
The pursuit took police into West Virginia before entering Pennsylvania. According to 911, the suspect was driving on Route 22, which cuts through the north of Washington County.
According to 911, McDonald police stopped the suspect in Findlay Township at about 5:19 a.m. and took him into custody.
