Monongahela police arrested four people from Flint, Mich., Wednesday on fraud charges after they attempted to purchase a pre-paid debit card at the Union Township Dollar General.
Daltres Shanard Mize, 25, Jaylon Darrick Robbs, 21, and Kentavia Patricia Littlejohn-Meniefield, 20, all face felony charges of conspiracy to commit access device fraud. A 17-year-old male was also arrested, but court records do not identify him and he has not been charged as an adult.
According to the criminal complaint, employees of the Dollar General at 6239 State Route 88 called police shortly before 1:30 p.m. Employees told police that three males came in individually, one after the other, and attempted to load a pre-paid debit card with $500.
According to the complaint, the debit card they used to make the purchase was declined each time, but they requested the cashier load it as though they paid cash. Court records do not specify who owned the debit card.
Employees told investigators that the individuals had been in other Dollar General stores in recent days, and that they had been warned to look out for fraud.
The assistant manager of the Dollar General on West Main Street in Monongahela reported seeing the group about a half-hour later, and they were arrested in the store’s parking lot.
Robbs, Mize and Littlejohn-Meniefield were arraigned Wednesday night before District Judge James Saieva, who sent them to the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond each. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Oct. 17.
