Washington police have charged the alleged shooter of an attempted robbery in the city Sunday morning.

Alvin Edward Berry, 26, of Pittsburgh, faces felony charges of aggravated assault, attempted robbery and prohibited possession of a firearm.

Berry is accused in court documents of shooting Nahzier Muhammad, 25, of Washington, in the leg while attempting to rob him at a laundromat in the 100 block of Highland Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Also charged in the case is Ross Goldstone, 26, of North Carolina. Goldstone faces conspiracy charges for his alleged involvement. Police said security footage shows Goldstone hold the laundromat door open for Muhammad while Berry follows behind with a handgun. According to the complaint, Berry fled the scene in Goldstone’s vehicle.

Police found Muhammad laying on the floor of the Family Dollar next door to the laundromat. He was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh in critical condition.

According to the criminal complaint, Goldstone told police he brought Berry to the laundromat, but claimed he was unaware Berry intended to rob Muhammad.

There is an active warrant for Berry’s arrest.
