The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) stopped a Peters Township man on Christmas Day after finding a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage.

The man, who was not identified by the TSA, had a .380 caliber handgun loaded with six bullets at the Pittsburgh International Airport.

According to the TSA, this is the 44th gun caught at the Pittsburgh airport’s security checkpoint. The previous record was 35 guns in 2019.

In these cases, TSA may issue a civil penalty of as much as $15,000 depending on the circumstances.
