A Jefferson Hills man facing several counts of attempted homicide for allegedly shooting into a Monongahela bar was arraigned on those charges Tuesday night.

Jonathan James Toth, 49, was initially transported to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after a Monongahela police officer shot him while he was allegedly attempting to drive away from the scene on Saturday.

Toth is accused in court documents of firing four shots from a .22 caliber rifle into the rear door of Main Street Tavern at 225 Main St. According to the complaint, at about 12:30 a.m. Toth had left the bar following an argument and returned a short while later with the firearm.

Police said there were about eight people inside.

Tuesday night District Judge Louis McQuillan sent Toth to the Washington County jail without bond. Toth is due to appear for a preliminary hearing at 11:45 a.m. Jan. 10.

Toth also faces felony charges of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, as well as misdemeanors of reckless endangerment.
