State police releases data for crashes, arrests over Christmas weekend

Pennsylvania State Police issued its report on incidents troopers responded to over the holiday weekend.

Throughout the state, state police responded to 404 crashes, less than the 661 they responded to last year. According to police, 36 of those accidents involved alcohol and three people were killed.

Troop B responded to 39 crashes, down from 53 last year. Troop B covers Washington, Greene and Fayette counties, as well as portions of Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.

One fatal crash occurred within Troop B’s jurisdiction at about 1 a.m. Christmas morning on Interstate 376 in Allegheny County. Police have not identified the driver who died.

Across Pennsylvania there were 198 DUI arrests, with 14 of those within Troop B.
