An argument at a Redstone Township home led to the Thursday morning stabbing death of a 24-year-old man.
Shawn Hriscisce of Redstone was found dead on the porch of 529 Hilltop Ave around midnight, according to state police.
During a Thursday press conference, Trooper Kalee Barnhart said there have been no arrests in the case and indicated troopers planned to continue conducting interviews throughout the day.
She said there were five people inside the Hilltop Avenue home when two other people showed up and an argument ensued.
“This altercation turned physical and ultimately led to a stabbing,” said Barnhart, the public information officer for state police in Uniontown and Belle Vernon.
Police did not say what the argument was about, nor did not they say where Hriscisce was stabbed. Troopers are also looking into whether Hriscisce lived in the Hilltop Avenue home, or was visiting someone who lived there.
Barnhart noted that a second person in the home, who was not identified, was stabbed in the arm. Police classified that person’s injury as minor, noting they were taken to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital for stitches and released.
Barnhart said that person was cooperating with police in the ongoing investigation.
Police said they were initially called to the home for a report of an assault.
State police Capt. Jeremy Barni said the stabbing appears to be an isolated incident, and police do not believe there is any danger or threat to the public.
Barni said troopers are still trying to determine what happened to escalate the argument and ultimately lead to the stabbings.
Police investigating the case are part of the Troop B Major Case Team, which includes the barracks in Uniontown and Belle Vernon. The Fayette County district attorney’s office is also assisting.
Barnhart said police expect to release additional information as the investigation progresses.
