An East Millsboro man reportedly admitted to fatally stabbing another man late Wednesday at a Redstone Township home.
Sylvester Kline Conaway Jr., 54, said there was a physical confrontation at 529 Hilltop Road, and he stabbed Shawn Hriscisce, 24, in the chest, killing him, and stabbed another man in the arm, according to state police.
Police alleged the stabbings occurred as Conaway and a friend were being forced to leave, and “he used his knife to stab at the victims, ultimately striking both.”
The man who was stabbed in the arm, Joshua Kelly, was not seriously injured, according to police.
During the course of their investigation, police said they spoke to several witnesses who were at the home, as well as Kelly, whose age and address were not listed in the complaint.
A person identified only as Witness #1 told police Conaway came to the home and got into a fight with those inside. The reason for the fight was not revealed in court paperwork.
The witness, identified as a “friend” of Conaway’s, told police after Hriscisce and Kelly were stabbed, he, Conaway and person identified as Witness #2, fled in a vehicle.
Both of the witnesses reportedly told police that Conaway spoke about the stabbing and threw the knife out of the window along Route 166.
Troopers were able to locate the knife and said they believed there was blood on it.
When they brought Conaway in for questioning police said he “admitted to throwing the knife out the window after the incident as he and the others fled the scene in a vehicle.”
Police were called to the Hilltop Road home just before midnight Wednesday, and said they found Hriscisce on the porch. He was pronounced dead by a member of the Fayette County coroner’s office at 3:44 a.m. Thursday.
Conaway was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence Thursday evening before on-call District Judge Ronald Haggerty Jr.
Haggerty denied bail due to the criminal homicide charge.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 14 before Magisterial District Judge Mike Defino Jr.
Conaway is currently lodged in the Fayette County Prison.
