Washington man faces child porn charges

State police charged a Washington man Thursday on several charges related to possession of material depicting the sexual abuse of children.
Dylan Pettit, 24, faces multiple felonies for possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.
According to the criminal complaint, in March 2023 police received a report from Synchronoss, a company that provides cloud-based storage, about a user uploading illicit material.
Investigators tracked the account to Pettit’s name and an address in the 500 block of Robinson Run Road, West Finley Township, where he was staying, court documents indicate.
Police obtained a search warrant and took Pettit’s phone in July. According to the complaint, investigators found “multiple files” depicting the sexual abuse of children.
Pettit was arraigned Friday morning before District Judge John Bruner, who sent him to the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 13.
