Local Love Cocoa Tour scheduled Saturday in downtown Washington
The city of Washington is once again hosting an event that offsets the doldrums of winter while celebrating the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
A Local Love Cocoa Tour is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and this year’s celebration figures to be bigger and better than the 2023 event.
At least 20 businesses plan to participate. Hot chocolate will be offered at businesses in a variety of ways with many other activities and surprises planned.
“It was a new event last year and it just took off. We had a great turnout,” said Shana Brown, Washington Business District Authority director. “(This year) we have everything from make-your-own hot chocolate bombs to hot chocolate cookies. We have all of these amazing specials. The downtown businesses have pulled out all of the stops as they always do.”
Kaleidoscope II will be offering 20% off everything red, hot cocoa and a free gift with each purchase.
Rockstar Tee’s will be offering 10% off heart-shaped jewelry.
At Destination Candy, people will be able to make their own cocoa bombs for $5, while $2 coupons will be given with each purchase.
Among a few of the participants and their offerings include:
Spiked dark chocolate raspberry hot cocoa and Lovers Lane Strawberry Rose Sangria at J&Ds with Leda Vintage;
Hot chocolate buns and warm white hot chocolate at the Ivy Green;
Bourbon Cream Hot Chocolate at the LeMoyne House;
Snoop Dogg Canine Creamery pop-up at Washington Winery;
Washington Brewing Company will open at 11 a.m. with Bassettown brownies made with Bassettown brown ale.
In addition a vendor mart will be at Venue 19 North, featuring a number of vendors.
“A whole vendor market has been assembled around this event,” Brown said. “It’s a chance to come and shop for Valentine’s Day for your sweetheart or pick up a last-minute present for that special someone in your life.”
