The Washington County Community Foundation (WCCF) is seeking the help of community members to serve on focus groups being convened to assess broad community needs in Washington County.

Community foundations periodically conduct assessments to identify community needs, often using that information to direct their grant funding. In 2023, the WCCF launched its needs assessment using a web-based strategy, www.CommunitySnapshot.org, that is readily accessible to the community and that is updated annually through research, focus groups and an electronic survey.

“The focus groups that met last year provided valuable insights that were used to identify both strengths and opportunities for improvement in each of our funding areas,” said Betsie Trew, WCCF president and CEO.

Focus groups will be convened from 3 to 5 p.m. in the CARE Education Center of the Washington County Community Foundation at 1253 Route 519, Eighty Four. Focus groups have been scheduled as follows: Arts & Humanities, March 19; Conservation & Environment, March 20; Community Improvement & Economic Development, March 26; Animal Welfare, March 27; Health & Fitness, April 2; Human Needs, April 3; Education, April 9; and Religion & Faith-Based, April 10.

Those who are interested but who are unable to participate in a focus group may choose to complete an electronic survey that will be issued in April. To register for the focus groups or the survey, visit the Get Involved section of www.CommunitySnapshot.org/.
