A Washington-based personal injury attorney was suspended from practicing law for one year and one day after court documents state he took on a case and then neglected both his clients and the court.

The state Supreme Court issued its ruling against Joseph M. Yablonski, 60, on Wednesday. The court order describes how Yablonski disregarded court orders and failed to notify clients of the case’s status, even after it was dismissed.

At a disciplinary hearing last March, Yablonski testified that he had allowed personal issues to affect his work but did not have bad intentions.
