A Peters Township man accused of stabbing another man last month will head to trial on an attempted homicide charge.
Christopher Lee Cavanagh, 40, appeared before District Judge Louis McQuillan Friday morning for his scheduled preliminary hearing. Cavanagh is represented in the case by Washington attorney Peter Marcoline III.
Marcoline and the district attorney’s office agreed to have the charges held for common pleas court without a hearing.
In addition to attempted homicide, Cavanagh also faces charges of aggravated assault and simple assault.
According to the criminal complaint, the evening of Jan. 12 Cavanagh got into an argument with Ryan Henning in the backseat of an Uber. The driver called 911 and reported that Cavanagh had pulled a knife.
Cecil Township police responded to the 40 block of Georgetown Road at about 9:45 p.m. and found Henning with stab wounds to his chest. He was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
Cavanagh is free on $250,000 unsecured bond. Formal arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 28 at the Washington County Courthouse.
