A Trinity High School parent was charged Thursday after being accused of biting the arm of a Washington police officer.

Kimberly Margaret Kingan, 45, of Canton Township, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor of resisting arrest.

According to the criminal complaint, Kingan was at the school Thursday for a meeting concerning her daughter, who had told the school nurse she recorded “several” faculty members without their consent and sent the recordings to another student.

A Trinity Area School District police officer attempted to confiscate the student’s phone, but she put the phone between her legs and refused to turn it over. A Washington police officer was called to assist.

According to the complaint, Kingan took the phone from her daughter to prevent police from taking it. Kingan bit the Washington officer’s arm as she reached for the phone, the complaint reads.

Kingan was arraigned Thursday afternoon before District Judge Michael Manfredi, who released her on $25,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. March 12.
