Allegheny Health Network has released a list of the top 10 names of babies born in its hospitals in 2023.
Noah and Charlotte topped the most popular baby names chosen by parents who delivered across AHN facilities. Owen, Olivia and Henry made the top five, while Luca, James, Jack, Oliver and Theodore rounded out the list.
The names Noah and Charlotte both made big jumps last year. Noah wasn’t even in the top 10 list in 2022, but rose to the top spot in 2023, while Charlotte rose from No. 4 on the charts in 2022 to No. 2 in 2023.
Meanwhile, Olivia dropped from the top of 2022’s list to the fourth spot, and Theodore fell eight spots from second to 10th.
Names that dropped from the 2022 Top 10 list included Amelia, Logan and Emma.
Across the country, Liam, Noah and Oliver were the top boy names while Olivia, Emma and Amelia were front-runners for baby girls. Names that were local favorites, but did not make the national Top 10 list, were Owen, Luca and Jack.
It was also a big year for unique names.
There were 3,200 different baby names chosen by parents who delivered last year at AHN facilities, and more than 2,100 were original to the network and were only used once.
AHN’s Women’s Institute provides labor and delivery services at West Penn, Forbes, Wexford, Jefferson and Saint Vincent hospitals. Last year, more than 8,500 babies were delivered at AHN facilities.
