There were no injuries when a fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at an apartment building in Washington. The fire was reported about 3 p.m. at 644 E. Maiden St. The residence has two apartments, according to Steve Devenney, city of Washington police chief, and the tenants of one of the apartments were not there when the fire started. Several area fire companies were also called to the scene. Thick smoke blanketed the area, and traffic was diverted off East Maiden Street, causing traffic tie-ups on side streets
