Area school boards hold reorganization meetings

Several school districts in Washington and Greene counties recently held their annual reorganization meetings.
Washington County
Avella welcomed new or re-elected board members Phoebe Armstrong, Suzanne Colilla, James Gagich,Terry Jacobs, Emanuel Paris, and Tia Shore.
Corey McConn was elected president, and Emanuel Paris was elected vice president.
School board meetings are scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Avella Junior-Senior High School Library, 1000 Avella Rd., Avella. Meeting dates are: Jan. 17, Feb. 21, March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, Aug. 7, Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 13, and Dec. 4.
Bentworth welcomed five members who were elected or re-elected in November: Betty Bellicini, A.J. Bonazoli, Judith Lohr, John Marchezak, and Mackenzie Earlywine.
John Patrisek was elected as the board’s president, while John Marchezak was elected as vice president.
Meetings for 2024 are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the high school LGI room. Dates are: Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 18, April 15, May 6 and 13, June 10 and 17, Aug. 5, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 2.
Bethlehem-Center welcomed new director elected Bridgett Trump. James Gwyer was elected president and John Greenlee was elected vice president.
Burgettstown introduced six members who were elected or reelected: Timothy Burgoyne, Amy Lemmon, Melissa Secco, Carrie Snatchko, Nicholas Tasz, and Teresa Walsh.
Carrie Snatchko was elected as the board’s president, while Zach Schilinski was elected vice president.
Meetings for 2024 are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the Burgettstown Elementary Center Library, 100 Bavington Rd., Burgettstown. Dates are: Jan. 8, Feb. 12, March 11, April 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11, and Dec. 2.
California Area greeted reelected school board members John Bitonti, Benjamin Neill, Chad Ross, Diane Zielenski and Maria Hurley-Ziolecki.
President is Barry Niccolai and vice president is John Bitonti.
Meeting dates are scheduled for Jan. 8 and 17, February 12 and 21, March 11 and 20, April 15 and 24, May 6 and 15, June 10 and 19, July 8 and 17, Aug. 5 and 14, Sept. 9 and 18, Oct. 7 and 16, Nov. 12 and 20, and Dec. 4.
Canon-McMillan swore in new or reelected school board members Amy Harding, Tony DeLost, Justin McKean, Sandra McCall, and Ann Marie Miller.
Liz Gump was elected president.
Agenda and voting meeting dates are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Jan. 18 and 25, Feb. 15 and 22, March 14 and 21, April 18 and 25, May 16 and 23, June 20 and 27, Aug. 8 (6:30 p.m. voting, 7 p.m. agenda) and 15, Sept. 12 and 19, Oct. 10 and 17, and Nov. 7 and 17. Meetings will be held at 200 Big Mac Blvd., Canonsburg.
Charleroi Area swore in new or reelected members Adele Hopkins, Heather Keranko, Elaine Pappasergi, Charlie Yakich, and Antonia Pellegrini. Kenneth Wiltz was elected president, and Adele Hopkins was selected as vice president.
Regular meetings will be held in the Charleroi High School Community Room on the following dates: Jan. 16, Feb. 20, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19, and Dec. 3 (reorganization meeting). A budget meeting will be held at 5 p.m. May 14, and a personnel meeting will be held at 5 p.m. June 11.
Chartiers-Houston welcomed new or reelected directors Jenna Baer, Mike Kolovich, Richard Hall, Jay Johnson, Ashley Moss, and Laurie Popeck. The board elected Shelley Brose as president and Mike Kolovich as vice president.
Work session and regular board meetings will be held, respectively, at 7 p.m., in the Junior-Senior High School LGI room on Jan. 8 and 16, Feb. 12 and 20, March 11 and 18, April 8 and 15, May 13 and 20, June 10 and 17, Aug. 12 and 19, Sept. 9 and 16, Oct. 14 and 21, Nov. 11 and 18, and Dec. 3. A July 22 board meeting will be held if necessary.
Fort Cherry swore in new board directors Leslie Maxin and Amanda Herforth and reelected school board director Beverly Schwab.
Jodi McKay was elected as board president and Julie Sepesy was elected vice president.
Executive session is scheduled for 6 p.m. with school board meetings held directly after in the Fort Cherry High School Learning Commons. Meeting dates are: Jan. 22, Feb. 26, March 25, April 22, May 20, June 24, July 22 if needed, Aug. 19, Sept.23, Oct. 28, and Dec. 2.
McGuffey welcomed reelected members Zonie Jackson and Betty Shingle, and new members Chad Thomas, Melissa Rebarnick, and Monique Frye. Jackson was elected president and Michelle Leibhart was named vice president.
School board meetings are scheduled directly after the 6 p.m. committee meetings at McGuffey High School. Meeting dates are Jan. 18, Feb. 15, March 21, April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, Aug. 8, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21 and Dec. 5 (reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. followed by regular board meeting. Ringgold elected Carol Flament as president, while Steven Toprani will serve as first vice president and Heather Wilhelm, second vice president.
Meetings for 2024 will be held at 7 p.m. in the administration building, 400 Main St., Monongahela, unless otherwise specified. Meeting dates are Jan. 17,, Feb. 21, March 20, April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, Aug. 21, Sept. 18, Oct. 16, Nov. 20, Dec. 4 (6 p.m. reorganization meeting).
Trinity Area welcomed board members Jennifer Morgan, Penelope Caleffe, Sean Dobich, Molly Hott, and Greg Rudman. Jennifer Morgan was elected school board president, and Frances Eates was elected vice president.
Board meetings for 2024 will be held at 6 p.m. in the central office board room on the following dates: Jan. 4 and 18, Feb. 1 and 15, March 7 and 21, April 4 and 18, May 2 and 16, June 6 and 20, Aug. 1 and 15, Sept. 5 and 19, Oct. 3 and 17, Nov. 7 and 21, and Dec. 5 (reorganization meeting).
Washington greeted newly or reelected school board directors Eric Bird, John Campbell Sr., Jennifer Ewing, Rodney Jones, Pamela Kilgore, and Amy Roberts.

Greene County
Carmichaels Area swore in new or reelected members Albert Buchtan, Jami Krull, Lewis May, John Menhart, Jackie Shuppe, and Brian Sokol. School board meeting dates for 2024 will be approved at the board’s Jan. 18 meeting.
Central Greene swore in new or reelected board members Lanfer Simpson, Erin Blanchard, Chay Lahew, and James Howard. The board elected James Howard as president and Wayne Knisely, vice president.
Regular meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of the month (Jan. 16, March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, and Nov. 19 in the boardroom at 250 S. Cumberland St., Waynesburg, at 6:30 p.m., except for the February meeting, which will be held Feb. 13. The reorganization meeting is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 6 p.m.
Jefferson-Morgan welcomed new or re-elected members Heidi Jamison and Jeffrey Brink. The board elected Jason Beal as president and Robert Mitchell as vice president. Meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Monday of the month – Jan. 15, Feb. 19, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 16.
Southeastern Greene welcomed new or re-elected directors Mark Messich, Courtney Smiley, Kristafer Adkins, Marvin Carter. The board elected Andrew Vanata as president and Kristafer Adkins, vice president.
Meetings will be held at the Mapletown Junior/Senior High School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. on the following dates: Jan. 15, feb. 26, March 18, April 15, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 3.
West Greene School Board welcomed new or re-elected school board members Crystal Frye, Randall Kennedy, Marie Gillespie, Chad Scott, along with appointed directors Angie VanDyne and Betty Jo Black. One seat for Region 2 remains vacant, and a school board director will be named at an upcoming meeting. The board elected Dave Durbin as president and Ryan Crouse as vice-president.
