State police charged a Connellsville man Friday following an investigation into accusations he sexually assaulted a juvenile in 2012.

Barry Eugene Shipley, 53, faces felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and statutory sexual assault.

According to the criminal complaint, the alleged victim, now an adult, reported to police in April 2023 that she had been assaulted by Shipley on multiple occasions.

She reportedly told investigators that the first assault took place at home in Springfield Township in 2012, when she would have been 12 years old.

Shipley is accused in court records of carrying on this behavior throughout 2013.

Shipley was arraigned Friday morning before District Judge Ronald Haggerty, and was released from custody after posting a $50,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 31.
