The CEO of Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania retired from her role on Thursday.

Lisa G. Hannum served in the role for 19 years. She started as a part-time volunteer coordinator in 2005, and was promoted to full-time education and training coordinator. In 2015, she was named the agency’s first director of operations, and four years later she was named the executive director of DVSSP. In 2020, her title was changed to CEO.

Under Hannum’s leadership, DVSSP has grown significantly with an emphasis on the areas of prevention, housing, and community outreach, according to a release announcing her retirement. She also led the relocation of the agency headquarters to Brownsville, which is a central location for agency services covering Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.

Megan Hegdus, a Cecil Township native, was named the agency’s new CEO. Hegdus started at DVSSP as a children’s advocate at the Washington Safe House. Over the past 24 years she has held a variety of leadership roles, most recently as the chief operating officer.

“Megan is well-prepared for this position, having spent almost her entire career at DVSSP, in a variety of roles in different parts of the organization,” said Hannum. “She is a compassionate but strong leader, and she is the right person to lead DVSSP into the future.”

As part of DVSSP’s leadership change, Alexandra Brooks and Maggie Novotny have both been named senior directors and will share the role of chief operating officer. Additionally, Carol Willison has been named senior director of administration and finance. She has been overseeing the agency’s fiscal management since 2018.
