A Charleroi man pleaded guilty in federal court last week to drug and gun charges.
According to the Department of Justice, Rashawn Ford, 28, entered the plea Thursday for one charge of possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of a controlled substance, and one charge of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
The charges stem from a March 2021 incident in which a state police trooper stopped Ford in Westmoreland County. According to the DOJ, the trooper found heroin, fentanyl and a loaded handgun in his car. Police then searched a hotel room Ford was staying at and found more drugs, another handgun, and more than $8,600 cash.
Ford is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh May 20.
