South Strabane police arrested a man Thursday afternoon after he was accused of assaulting a woman.

Jean-Henri Yandel, 45, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanors of terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.

According to the criminal complaint, shortly before 2 p.m. police were called to an apartment in the 1400 block of East Beau Street. Police said the alleged victim reported that Yandel had hit her in the head multiple times and threatened to kill her.

Yandel is also accused in charging documents of chasing the woman with a 2×4 piece of wood.

District Judge John Bruner arraigned Yandel Friday morning and sent him to the Washington County jail on $75,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 16.
