Park Avenue in North Franklin Township was closed for nearly four hours Tuesday due to police activity near Armour Street.

North Franklin fire Chief Dave Bane said his department was called at 10:30 a.m. to close the 900 block of Park Avenue and divert traffic between McJay Drive and Williams Street.

Numerous state police vehicles could be seen parked on the road.

“There is no immediate threat to the public,” State police Trooper Rocco Gagliardi said. “It’s contained.”

He did not elaborate on what occurred or whether there was an incident at a residence or on the roadway. Shortly before 2:30 p.m., Gagliardi posted on the state police’s Troop B Twitter page that the incident was over and the road had reopened.

“The incident on Park Ave has been concluded,” the post read. “There is no immediate threat or danger to the public at this time.”

Traffic was diverted around the area using side streets during the incident.
