Two people suffered minor injuries as a result of a house fire in Peters Township Tuesday night.
According to a press release from the Peters Township Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 119 Clearview Drive at about 10:43 p.m.
The fire department said flames were visible in the rear of the house and on the first and second floors. The homeowner was not home when the fire started, and discovered it when she returned.
According to the fire department, one person was hospitalized for evaluation, and a firefighter also suffered a minor injury.
“The fire appeared to have started inside the home near the rear of the structure. Fire investigators are working on determining the cause and origin, but it is not available at this time,” reads the release.
It took crews about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, and they spent two more hours extinguishing hot spots.
With this week’s heat wave, the fire department said they required additional EMS crews to be on standby.
Peters Township police also responded to the scene, as well as North Strabane and Upper St. Clair fire departments. Tri-Community South and South Bridge EMS also assisted.
