An Allenport woman died Saturday morning following a two-vehicle on Interstate 70 in Westmoreland County that closed the highway for hours.
Tori L. Demo was driving east on I-70 in Rostraver Township near the Arnold City exit shortly after 8 a.m. when her car was struck in the rear by a pickup truck, causing her to crash, according to the Westmoreland County coroner’s office.
Demo, 25, who was wearing a seatbelt and the only person in her vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said. The cause and manner of her death are pending the results of an autopsy.
Rostraver Central firefighters said Demo’s vehicle caught fire after the crash and had to be extinguished.
The driver of the pickup truck was not identified and it was not known if that person was injured in the crash.
The interstate was closed in both directions for three hours while emergency responders cleared the wreckage and state police investigated.
State police at the Belle Vernon barracks had not released information about the crash as of Sunday.
