All charges against a Washington man accused of supplying the drugs that resulted in a woman’s death last month were held for court Friday morning.

Allen Jay Gubanish, 35, appeared before District Judge Kelly Stewart for a preliminary hearing on felony charges of drug delivery resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility.

Stewart said an agreement had been reached between the district attorney’s office and Gubanish’s attorney, John Kalenish, to have the charges held without a hearing.

According to the criminal complaint, the charges are related to the Feb. 9 overdose death of Casey Cole.

Washington police wrote in court documents that Cole, 31, of Washington, was found dead in her North Franklin Street apartment around 9 p.m.

The man who called 911 told police that prior to her death, Cole said she bought drugs from Gubanish using Cash App. According to the complaint, there was a bag of suspected heroin in Cole’s mouth.

Investigators allegedly discovered messages on Cole’s phone between her and Gubanish earlier that day where Cole arranged to buy drugs from Gubanish.

According to Cole’s obituary, she is survived by one child.

“Casey was a loving and compassionate woman who used her artistic ability to make her loved ones feel valued through the crafts that she made,” reads her obituary.

Gubanish is currently incarcerated in the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. His formal arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. April 25.
