Toll plaza crash: A driver was injured last week when she crashed into the California toll plaza on the Mon-Fayette Expressway. State police said Holly M. Medlick, 44, of Jefferson, was driving south on Route 43 shortly before 9 p.m. March 14 when she apparently looked down at her speedometer, causing her to strike the barrier leading to the overhead toll gantry. Medlick was injured in the crash and taken by ambulance to Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital for treatment. Her condition and the severity of her injuries were not released.

SOUTH STRABANE

Gunshot in apartment: Craig Douglas Mansfield, 28, was charged with discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct after South Strabane police said he fired a gun inside his North Gate apartment at 740 Michigan Ave. Police said Mansfield told them he was unsure how the gun accidentally discharged, but a bullet went through his apartment door and into a neighboring unit about 1 p.m. March 11. No one was injured in the incident.
