Charleroi will hold its annual cleanup day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday throughout the downtown area.

Market House will be used as a staging area as volunteers clean the streets, pick up debris and spruce up planters with fresh topsoil and new plants.

The state Department of Transportation provided trash bags, work gloves and safety vests for the volunteers.

Charleroi Area School District has confirmed the participation of 49 students and parents. Borough employees also will be participating.

Big’s Sanitation will provide a 30-yard roll-off dumpster at the borough’s public works garage. Items such as tires, refrigerators and air conditioners will not be accepted. Televisions and computers will be accepted.

Also, the Magic City Flea Market is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday throughout the borough.
