State police arrested a Waynesburg woman Tuesday on allegations that she attempted to take a baby from a Jefferson Township home.

Larissa Sue Fonner, 26, faces felony charges of interference with custody of children, unlawful restraint and burglary.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the 1300 block of Jefferson Road shortly before 8 p.m.

Fonner is accused of entering the home without permission, taking items and loading them into a U-Haul truck. She then grabbed an 11-month-old boy and attempted to leave, court documents state. The boy’s mother managed to pull him away, but Fonner is accused of pushing and hitting her while continuing to attempt to grab the child.

Fonner was taken into custody a short time later. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking and a summary citation for harassment.

Fonner was arraigned before District Judge Lee Watson, who sent her to the Greene County jail without bond. According to online court records, bond was denied due to the seriousness of the allegations and because Fonner does not have a fixed address.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. May 29.
