CUMBERLAND

Drug arrest: Joseph William Nemeth, 34, of Morgantown, W.Va., and Alicia Nicole Wise, 31, of Spraggs were charged by Cumberland Township police Friday with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. According to the criminal complaint, police pulled over Nemeth at about 9 p.m. Thursday for expired registration. Police asked Nemeth to get out of his vehicle to be searched after seeing drug paraphernalia and a knife in the car, according to the complaint. Nemeth is accused of having about an ounce of methamphetamine on his person. Charges against Wise were initially filed under a false name she provided to police. Court records indicate that Wise used her sister’s name instead of her own. A new set of charges were filed against Wise, adding misdemeanors of identity theft and false identification to law enforcement. Wise and Nemeth were arraigned Friday. Nemeth is in the Greene County jail on $150,000 bond. District Judge Lee Watson denied Wise bail due to her use of another person’s information.

Assault alleged: Joseph A. Fitzpatrick, 45, of Carmichaels, is charged by Cumberland Township police with strangulation, aggravated assault and simple assault. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the 100 block of North Vine Street shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday. Fitzpatrick allegedly hit a woman in the face multiple times and choked her. Police saw marks on the alleged victim’s neck and face. District Judge Lee Watson sent Fitzpatrick to the Greene County jail on $40,000 bond.

She told police that morning that Cox had choked her and then kicked and punched her. Police said the woman had a cut lip and red marks on her neck. District Judge Lee Watson sent Cox to the Greene County jail on $50,000 bond.
