NORTH FRANKLIN

Assault alleged: Jonathan Ronell E. Brown, 30, of Pittsburgh, was charged by state police Saturday with aggravated assault, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, simple assault, driving under the influence, reckless driving and careless driving. According to the criminal complaint, Brown was a passenger in a single-vehicle crash in the 200 block of Park Avenue shortly after midnight Saturday. Surri Lynn Jenkins, the owner of the car, said during an argument Brown grabbed the steering wheel and drove the car directly into a tree. Both Brown and Jenkins were flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries. When interviewed at the hospital, both Jenkins and Brown allegedly told police they had been drinking prior to the accident. Brown has not been arraigned on the charges.

WASHINGTON

Assault alleged: William B. Edwards, 29, of Washington, was charged by Washington police Saturday with aggravated assault, strangulation, evading arrest and resisting arrest. According to the criminal complaint, at about 4:15 a.m. police were called to Edwards’ apartment in the 1300 block of Donnan Avenue. Police arrived to find the alleged victim, a female, and Edwards standing outside, but Edwards began to walk away from officers. The woman told police that Edwards had choked her. Police wrote in the complaint that she had broken blood vessels on her neck and collar bone. District Judge Mark Wilson sent Edwards to the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond.
