Cynthia R. Poland
Cynthia R. Poland, 58, of Washington, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, in Washington Hospital.
She was born December 4, 1954, a daughter of the late John and Donna McFarland Kumer of Hickory.
Mrs. Poland attended Fort Cherry schools.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at Hixenbaugh’s Personal Care home in Claysville, as well as a cook.
Mrs. Poland was baptized Catholic.
She enjoyed playing bingo, camping, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
On May 18, 1984, she married Thomas Poland, who died December 25, 2007.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are five children, Jennifer Poland of Washington, Amy (Walt) McCartney of Washington, Timothy (Jennifer) Reedy of Donora, Jennifer Reedy (Bill Hankinson) of Washington and Thomesina (Mike) Sonson of Washington; two brothers, Ralph Kumer of Washingon and Greg (Sherri) Kumer of Hickory; a sister, Terri (Rich) McGinis of Washington; 17 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Jodi Poland; a son-in-law, Grover Wilhoft; a sister-in-law, Joan Kumer; an uncle, Jim McFarland; and her grandmother, Veronica McFarland.
Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Friday, December 7, in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery, Avella. Condolences may be left at www.nicholfuneralhome.com.
