Jerome Pompei

Jerome Pompei, 88, of Finleyville, died Tuesday morning, December 4, 2012, in Standish Assisted Living, Washington.

He was born March 26, 1924, in Marianna, a son of the late Rinaldo and Sarah Zeli Pompei.

A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of James C. Ford Post 949 American Legion in Carroll Township.

Mr. Pompei was the former owner and operator of Pompei and Sons Paving.

His wife, Dorothy Prosser Pompei, died November 12, 1999.

Surviving are three children, Jerry Pompei (Kathy) of Finleyville, Barbara Schwartz (Robert) of Ocoee, Fla., and Ty Pompei (Lynn) of Bentleyville; five grandchildren, Marianne and Mark Puskarich and Tammy, Tyrone Jr. and Taylor Pompei; three sisters, Betty Perri of Eighty Four, Gladys Olson of Canonsburg and Bernadette DeStanfo of Hershey; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, John Pompei, and a sister, Juanita Tiberi.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 8, with the Rev. Sue Petritis officiating. Interment will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.
