Grete Evans Miller

Grete Evans Miller, 67, of Canonsburg, passed away unexpectedly at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, in her home.

She was born May 27, 1945, in Titusville, a daughter of the late Charles T. and Grete Holst Evans.

Mrs. Miller was a graduate of the University of Michigan and earned a doctorate in Spanish literature from Brown University.

She lived in Canonsburg since 1976 and had been employed as a respiratory therapist at Washington Hospital and Canonsburg General Hospital.

Mrs. Miller had an antiques business and participated in Washington Antiques Fair at The Meadows for 25 years. She loved antiquing and searching for items for her business. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and reading mystery novels. She was famous in her family for her chocolate chip cookies. She loved collecting southwestern Native American jewelry and working the Sudoku every day.

Her favorite time of year was Christmas when she decorated with her handmade petit point ornaments.

On June 10, 1972, she married Charles T. Miller who, after celebrating 40 years of marriage, survives.

Friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Tuesday, December 11, in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
