Faye Milvet, 91, peacefully went to meet her Lord and passed loved ones Saturday, December 8, 2012, in her daughter’s residence, with whom she made her home.

She was born October 23, 1921, a daughter of the late Anna Stewart Holmes and Nathaniel Worthington Fowler.

On January 8, 1947, she married her childhood sweetheart, John Milvet Sr., who passed away March 6, 2007.

Mrs. Milvet was a 1939 graduate of Hickory High School. She studied nursing and was once a post master for the post office in the town of Rea.

She was a homemaker and a hard working dairy farmer for most of her life. After retiring from the farm, she went to work for her son Michael’s Cross Creek Bait & Tackle Shop, where she became affectionately known as “Bait Shop Granny” to many fishermen and women far and wide.

In her younger years, she enjoyed nature and the changing seasons, gardening, canning, crocheting and the love of her farm animals. She enjoyed the company of friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her little dog, Fuzzy, who will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Milvet attended Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church in Wellsburg, W.Va., where she received the love and support of her church family.

Surviving Mrs. Milvet are her children, Stella (Richard) Dire of Rea, John Milvet II of Independence, Carolyn Milvet of Rea and Michael (Theresa) Milvet of Rea; 11 grandchildren, Michael (Adrianna) Danna Jr., Elaine Dire, Melissa (Timothy) Shaner, Michelle Milvet, John W. (Beth) Milvet III, Joshua Milvet, Kacy Milvet, James Lee, Jennie Lee, Jade Milvet and Michael Milvet Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, Jessica Robinson, Jacob Danna, Haley Danna, Maria Dire, Rianna Lee, Kristopher Lee, Elizabeth Kaldenberg-Lee, Tessa Lee and Nathaniel Lee; and two sisters, Ruth Myrtle Stolkovich of Aliquippa and Edna Margaret Pepe of Follansbee, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Jackson Fowler Sr., Albert Lloyd Fowler Sr. and Harry David Fowler; and her sisters, Mary Ellen King, Reathie Mae Fowler, Elsie Mae Buchanan, Martha Jane Collins, Emma Jean Starinsky and Edythe Lorraine Fisher.

Mrs. Milvet was like a second mother to many of her extended nieces and nephews, and a loving caregiver to her ailing father, mother and siblings. Toward her own end, she and the family received in-kind loving care and support from Thelma at Community Care and Amedisys Hospice Care.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., 18 Campbell Street, Avella. Visitations also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of the service, Tuesday, December 11, in Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church, 1340 Washington Pike, Wellsburg, with Pastor Bryce J. Grieco officiating. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., P.O. Box 65, Avella, PA 15312; or Amedisys Hospice Care at 2215 Hill Church Houston Road, Suite 1A, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
