Patricia A. Bedillion, 78, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in Canonsburg General Hospital.

She was born September 19, 1934, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret McCabe Spencer.

Mrs. Bedillion was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and Canonsburg Hospital School of Nursing.

She had worked as a registered nurse for McMurray Hills Manor and Canonsburg General Hospital.

Mrs. Bedillion was a member of St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg.

She enjoyed gardening, crafts and crossword puzzles.

On October 18, 1958, she married Robert D. Bedillion, who survives.

Also surviving are three children, Cynthia Lemonakis (Michael) of Canonsburg, Susan Vibostak (Michael) of Strabane and Robert Bedillion Jr. of Bedford; five grandchildren, Shawn Bedillion, Mindy Yeager (Sam), Kristy Stockton (Sam), Kacie Hollenbach (Gabe) and Chelsie Bedillion; five great-grandchildren, Lucas, Zoey and Kylie Bedillion and Ava and Violet Yeager; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are three sisters, Betty Soroka, Margaret Wilk and Dorothy Debnar.

John A. Botsko Jr., 87, of Brooklyn, Ohio, formerly of Bentleyville, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

He was the beloved husband of Pauline; loving father of Karen Cantrell of Kansas and Robert Botsko of Pennsylvania; and dear grandfather of four.

Mr. Botsko was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 17, in Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, Ohio. Burial will follow with military honors in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland, Ohio.

William Robert Engle passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He was born October 5, 1932, a son of William Engle and the late Elizabeth Engle.

At the time of his death, he resided in Fort Lauderdale but lived most of his life in Washington.

Mr. Engle attended Washington County schools and was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School. He also was a graduate of Penn Commerical College.

He served three years in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Clark, whom he married in 1956; two daughters, Lori Martin and Darcy Bickerton (Paul); a brother-in-law, Byron Clark; a sister, Lona Vogeley (Bill); a brother, John (Loraine); grandchildren Amy, Faye and Tim Bickerton; stepgrandchildren Ashley (Ava) and Michael Bickerton; great-grandchildren Alexis and Adam Bickerton; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Thomas (Becky), and a grandchild, Benjamin.

Mr. Engle was a partner in the family business, Engle’s Holiday Harbor Marina, until his retirement.

He was a life member and past master of Sunset Masonic Lodge 623, a 32nd-degree life member of Valley Coudersport, a 50-year member of Scottish Rite, life member of The Shrine and member of First United Presbyterian and Faith United Presbyterian churches, where he served as an elder. He was commander of Ten Mile Yacht Club and a life member of U.S. Power Squadron.

Mr. Engle was an avid NASCAR fan, collected and refurbished antique Mustang cars and raced boats with his father and brothers.

A private memorial service is planned for a later date.

James R. Hays, 59, of Bentleyville, died Monday, December 10, 2012, in his home.

He was born May 19, 1953, in Canonsburg, a son of Helen H. Hays of Eighty Four and the late Edwin G. “Bub” Hays.

Mr. Hays was a 1971 graduate of Bentworth High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam era as a military policeman and U.S. customs agent.

For many years, he worked for Lincoln Hydraulics in Meadow Lands and later worked for Hallmor Inc. in Bethel Park as a journeyman machinist.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bentleyville.

Mr. Hays enjoyed motorcycling and horseback riding.

On March 19, 1983, he married Carol A. McCann, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are a stepdaughter, Jamie Heckman Price and husband Dan of Washington; two stepgrandchildren, Paige and Brandon Price; two sisters, Elaine Fisher and husband Carl of McVeytown and Edwynna Urban and husband James of Eighty Four; and several nieces and nephews.

Homer Naylor Sr., 87, of Eighty Four, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in his home.

He was born June 17, 1925, in Spencer, W.Va., a son of the late Mack and Onnie Jett Naylor.

Mr. Naylor worked for 34 years as a truck driver for Suwak Trucking in Washington.

He was a founder of Washington Fliers Club.

During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army. A veteran, he belonged to American Legion Post 175 of Washington.

On July 6, 1946, he married Dora L. Little, who died June 29, 1982. On December 27, 1998, in Washington, he married Dorothy Rutan, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Homer Naylor Jr. and Larry W. Naylor, both of Eighty Four; a stepdaughter, Diane Baldwin of North Carolina; two stepsons, Donald Jones and Doc Jones Jr., both of Washington; two brothers, Woodrow Naylor of Looneyville, W.Va., and Arnold Naylor of Jefferson; 13 grandchildren, April, Mack, Jennifer, Walt, Heather, Danielle, Taylor, McCoy, Nicholas, Logan, David, Devin and Joshua; and a great-grandson, Dalton.

Deceased are a stepson, David Jones; five brothers, Jimmy, Norman, Richard, Ray and Herman Naylor; five sisters, Laura Jane Kelley, Elsie Fowler, Dixie Kelley, Maxine Nevis and Ochel Henderson; and eight half brothers and sisters.

David Oscar “Popeye” Patterson, 83, of Washington, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.

He was born September 7, 1929, in Buffalo Village, a son of the late John T. and Dorothy W. McDonald Patterson.

Mr. Patterson worked on the family’s dairy farm.

He was Protestant.

Surviving are a brother, John Patterson, and a sister, Maxine Arbes, both of Washington; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, John and Mary Patterson, Richie Arbes, Brad Arbes and Marcie Rosenberg.

Margaret J. Rodgers, 85, of South Park, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012, in Jefferson Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born September 24, 1927, in Mercer County, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Margaret Shannon Sowers.

On April 10, 1945, she married Raymond Edward Rodgers, who died September 29, 2006.

Surviving are her two loving sons, Patrick James Rodgers of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Timothy Michael (Barbara) Rodgers of Eighty Four; granddaughter Jennifer Lynn (Jeffrey) Sasek of Venetia; and three great-grandsons, Wyatt Michael, Ethan Tyler and Travis Alexzander Sasek.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are brothers Sylvester and George and sister Betty.

She retired from Bethel Park School District after many years.

Howard Stevenson Smith, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Wednesday, December 5, 2012.

He was born in Burgettstown, a son of the late Charlotte Leng Smith and Harris Surls Smith.

Mr. Smith was married May 4, 1946, to Gloria Ruth England of Amityville, N.Y.

His life exemplified devotion to family and friends, faith, joy, compassion, hard work and love.

Entering the U.S. Army December 8, 1941, he participated in the Battle of the Bulge and proudly served his country through England, France, Belgium and Germany, until discharge December 5, 1945.

Engagement and marriage to Gloria followed his return home to the United States, as well as 41 years as conductor with the Pennsylvania and Penn Central railroads. Mr. Smith introduced his wife to farming, his second career, and raised award-winning registered Angus beef cattle on their farm near Atlasburg. He was a member and elder of Cross Creek Presbyterian Church, as well as a 75-year member of Cross Creek Village Grange.

Deceased are his parents and three brothers.

Mr. Smith was the loving father of three daughters, Kathleen Susan Copeland (Kirk) of Greeneville, Tenn., Cheryl Leigh Stoddard (Richard) of Argenta, Ill., and Pamela Jane Potter (David) of Ashland, Ohio. He was proud to be the grandfather of seven and the great-grandfather, “Great Daddy,” of nine. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, all of his children, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, December 15, in Cross Creek Presbyterian Church, 1231 Cross Creek Road, Cross Creek, followed by interment in Cross Creek Cemetery. Elsie M. Spalla, 80, of Houston, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in Canonsburg General Hospital.

She was born May 22, 1932, in Houston, a daughter of the late Irwin and Marie Ranegar Hamilton.

Mrs. Spalla attended Hickory High School.

She was a member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the grief share, vacation Bible school and served as a deacon.

Mrs. Spalla loved stitching baby blankets, spending time with her family and helping with her grandchildren.

On September 14, 1948, she married Henry Spalla, who died October 23, 1982.

Surviving are five daughters, Linda Potts (John) of Aliquippa, Lynn Stubenbordt (James) of Houston, Debra Campagna (Joe) of McMurray and Denise Buyan (Dennis) and Toni Manganas (Lynn Dunn), both of Canonsburg; 15 grandchildren, Jodi Kubit (Ed), Shawn and William “Carl” Fetcko, Krissy Andreolli (Tony), Jamie Shaner (Josh), Paul Studenbordt (Jenn), Michelle Andreolli (Mike), Mike Campagna, Dennis Buyan (Joan), Angel and Alex Buyan, Tommy Manganas (Jill) and Tina, Marissa and Alana Dunn; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Irwin Y. Hamilton Jr. of Cecil.

Deceased, in addition to her husband,is a daughter, Tina Spalla.

Frances J. Zacour, 90, of Washington, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in Donnell House, Washington.

She was born October 6, 1922, in Wyatt, W.Va., a daughter of the late Felix and Grace Allawatt Romano.

Mrs. Zacour was a graduate of Washington High School.

She worked as a secretary at River Raisin and, for 20 years, was a secretary at Davidson Cable Co., where she retired.

A member of St. Hilary Church, she enjoyed her monthly 500 card club, drinking coffee on her porch and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

On May 4, 1946, she married Albert J. Zacour, who died January 12, 1999.

Surviving are three sons, Richard (Patricia) Zacour, Charles (Valeta) Zacour and Ronald (Regina) Zacour, a brother, Sam (Beverly) Romano, and a sister, JoAnn (Mike) Kolycheck, all of Washington; three grandchildren, Anson Zacour, Kristina Zacour and Ashley Belcastro; a great-grandchild, A.J.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Deceased are a sister, Theresa Urso; three brothers, Frank, Anthony and Dominick Romano; and a grandchild, James Albert Zacour.
